The Grand Opera House was expanded in 1902, and over the years was altered several times. In the late-1940’s it was given a spectacular Art Deco style. At that time it was operating as a full time cinema, but with plays, opera and concerts ocassionally being staged. Closed in the 1970’s, it was converted into Manila’s largest nightclub named Chicks O'Clock. This later closed and the building was demolished to build a hotel on the site.
